Teriah No More: Tessa Divorces Mariah

Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) visited Sharon’s (Sharon Case) house on the Wednesday, January 14 episode. She wanted to share an update on her marriage with Mariah (Camryn Grimes). She only received a short text message during Christmas.

At the time, Mariah informed Tessa that she had admitted herself to the Boston clinic and that she wouldn’t be in touch after that. Sharon revealed that she also received short messages from Mariah. However, she was so engrossed in Noah’s (Lucas Adams) drama involving Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) that she didn’t think anything of it.

Tessa shared that she didn’t believe that Mariah was getting any better. She pushed everyone away. As a result, Tessa was filing for divorce. She was tired of living her life in limbo, wondering if Mariah would ever return home.

What Sharon also doesn’t know is that Tessa has been growing close to Daniel (Michael Graziadei). The two were intimate on New Year’s Eve. Tessa assumed their marriage was strong, but she soon realized that it was over.

Y&R Fans React to Disappointing Storyline

Teriah was Y&R’s first LGBTQ+ couple and had a huge, strong fanbase. So, it’s not surprising that this storyline is disappointing. Some fans argue that this storyline is out of character for both Tessa and Mariah, who have consistently shown a strong commitment to their love. They fought for their love from the beginning, when they were scared about their feelings for one another.

One fan took to X, formerly Twitter, to write, “Mariah just up and leaving her daughter, wife, and the rest of her family is so OOC for her and not remotely believable—just like Tessa easily giving up on her.”

Other fans shared their reactions to the post. One viewer asked, “And how is it all about Ian Ward and not about the man she tried to kill?!”

Grimes previously explained that Mariah had to face her past trauma to move on from this situation. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. Mariah agreed to leave her family behind. In the meantime, viewers are mourning the loss of the groundbreaking soap opera couple.
