Kate Linder is celebrating her 40th anniversary on The Young and the Restless in fine fashion with a big honor at the Hollywood Museum. The Esther Valentine actress first appeared in Genoa City on April 16, 1982.

40 Years of Kate Linder as Esther Valentine on Y&R!

Esther is known for being Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) maid at the Chancellor mansion for many years. Her first lines on the soap were, “Dinner is Served.” Although the part was supposed to be short-term, it ended up lasting. While Esther doesn’t live at the mansion these days, she’s still in Genoa City, and she shows up at Crimson Lights fairly often. Esther often talks about caring for her two living grandchildren Bella Fisher and Miles Fisher, and she remembers the late Delia Abbott.

During her earlier days on-screen, Esther married conman Norman Peterson (Mark Haining). She also gave birth to a baby fathered by a plumber named Tiny. That baby was known as Kate Valentine, and now she’s Chloe Fischer (Elizabeth Hendrickson).
