Billy always has excuses for his behavior on The Young and Restless. He is never to blame for his actions, and everything he does is always for other people’s good. For instance, on the August 27 episode, he got drunk and stomped over to Adam and Sally’s, screaming about how Adam needs to tell Sally the truth about sleeping with Chelsea for Sally’s good. It wasn’t for his own reasons, no, sir. Billy is a giver. Billy is a saint. But why don’t we dig down just a little deeper, with a little visit for Billy on the well-worn Genoa City couch.
Someone To Love
Billy (Jason Thompson — who is excited about these storylines) claims to love Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). At least, that’s how we were supposed to interpret his primal scream after he found out the truth about her night with Adam (Mark Grossman). We haven’t seen much love there. We’ve seen control issues, trust issues, and a need to stick his neck into situations that don’t concern him. But not a lot of love.
Still, how better for Billy to express his love to Chelsea than by lurching drunkenly to Adam and Sally’s (Courtney Hope) and whining for Adam to come clean about how he took advantage of poor, sweet, innocent, helpless Chelsea? (Yeah, the woman who raped Billy to become pregnant and sell him Johnny [Paxton Mishkind]. That sweet, innocent, helpless, practically virginal Chelsea.)
The Other Woman
Billy also did it for Sally. She deserves to know that she’s in love with a horrible, scheming, heartless liar. The one reason Billy absolutely didn’t go on his drunken rampage was to get back at Adam. Adam has nothing to do with this. We agree. This wasn’t about Adam. This was about Connor (Judah Mackey — who shared a BTS).
Son Rise
Billy claims to care about Connor. Poor, sick, innocent Connor. Billy would never take his wrath out on the dear boy. He totally supports Chelsea and Adam standing by Connor in his hour of need. Billy would have done the same with his daughter, Delia. The little girl Adam hit and killed with his car. The one who never got a chance to grow up and have teenage problems.
Billy claims he outed Adam and Chelsea in the name of honesty. But we’re pretty sure he did it in the name of vengeance. Billy wanted to destroy Connor’s family the way Adam destroyed his. With his parents in turmoil, Connor won’t have a moment’s peace now. In the same way, Billy hasn’t had a moment’s peace since Delia’s death. If Billy’s child doesn’t deserve a content life, then nobody’s child does.
