Harrison’s kidnapping heightened emotions this week on The Young and the Restless. In the Tuesday, April 16 episode, Summer told the Newmans and the Abbotts that Claire was to blame. While the audience knows Jordan is the sole person responsible for this awful crime, Summer remains laser-focused on Claire. She won’t hear any other options.
Harrison’s lucky charm caused Claire to head over to the Abbott household. She bonded with Kyle and Harrison and all was good. Then she went up with Harrison to his room to read a story. And that’s when things went nuclear with Jordan chloroforming Claire and grabbing Harrison. Somehow the superwoman got them out of the Abbott house because Kyle’s son and Victoria and Cole’s daughter are missing. (Here’s what the kidnapping means for Kyle and Summer)
Understandably worried, scared, and angry, Summer blamed Claire. She thinks that the psychopath (her word) made off with Harrison. On top of that, she also blames Kyle for letting said psychopath spend time alone with Harrison, especially knowing that Summer doesn’t trust her. (Find out why Harrison’s kidnapping could expose his trauma)
Summer reiterated her claim with her Newman side of the family as well. I couldn’t understand how they let Claire into their lives after what she had done to them with Jordan. She didn’t understand anything about Jordan basically brainwashing Claire her entire childhood and poisoning her against the Newmans. All through the fear and fury, she doubled and tripled down on Claire being the one to blame. Even when Nikki said this was all Jordan’s fault. (Check out Y&R’s latest Coming & Going)
At the same time, viewers knew Jordan was to blame. She chloroformed Claire and made off with Harrison. And now she’s treating Harrison like she presumably treated Claire all those years ago. With the audience knowing more than the characters in this instance, we decided to hit X, formerly Twitter, to find out what they think about Summer’s fury, her flame, and her insistence that this was Claire and Kyle’s fault.
Is It right for Summer to go there with everybody? Or will she have a lot of messes to clean up once the truth is outed?
@PinkWyldflower’s “Ummm and Adam is your brother” is particularly significant because it highlights Victoria’s hypocrisy. After all, she still hasn’t accepted Adam into the Newman family. But she does expect everybody to accept Claire.
@calirozzy is feeling the intensity of Summer’s emotions. In fact, she really digs “this Mama Bear side of Summer.”
@LadeeNiecee shared her real thoughts on Summer’s motivations for blaming Claire for kidnapping Harrison. “Summer is mad that she isn’t the only senior grand princess of the Newman family, and the focus has been on Claire, the newest addition. Let’s be real.?
Meanwhile, @vanpelttv supports Summer’s right to rant. “Summer is the heavy in this story, I get it,” she said. “But I don’t find her acting OOC, this is her son that is missing. And she just found out everything that Claire and Jordan did to her family. Tell me you wouldn’t feel the same? #YR”
Here’s another fan who is #TeamSummer. @demi_daya feels “Miss Summer Ann is justified #YR”
Here’s somebody who isn’t feeling Summer’s reactions. @RenaSoferMagic calls her a brat and says she “can’t wait for her to eat crow over this. #YR”
Finally, @KPJHHMAMA said, “All of this negative energy towards summer baffles me; I would be a million times worse. Even though Claire didn’t kidnap him it’s indirectly still her fault for going around that child knowing Jordan was still out there gunning for them! #yr”
Do any of you share Summer’s assessment of Claire? Or do you think she should just concentrate on getting Harrison back? Let us know in the comments.
