Oh, look: It’s the final minute of The Young and the Restless‘ February 13 episode (twenty-hour hours before Valentine’s Day, no less), and Lily has bumped into new man about town, Damian. He apologized. She snarked at him to look where he was going, then flounced off. And, in that 30 second exchange, we learned everything we need to know about this inevitable relationship.
Like Likes Like
Sure, the saying goes, “Opposites attract.” But, as my husband, a lifelong soap watcher, likes to say, “On daytime, everyone is paired up like pandas.” Basically, just like the few remaining pandas left on the globe are penned up to force them to mate and produce more pandas, on soaps, characters are often paired up as soon as there’s an opportunity.
Lily (Christel Khalil) was previously paired up with Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Billy (Jason Thompson). She also spent some time with her first love ex, Daniel (Michael Graziadei), but that ended in shambles when Daniel and Heather (Vail Bloom) reunited. Since then, Lily has been at loose ends. But now, hey, Lily, guess what we got for you!

Attitude Adjustment
Lily dismissing Damian (Jermaine Rivers) after voicing her distrust of him to Devon (Bryton James) earlier tells us that this pairing is going to be an enemies-to-lovers trope. Once Lily officially meets Damian, he’ll try to be charming. However, she’ll tell him to can it. After all, he lied about who he was and sent an imposter in his place so she and her family would never trust him. Never, ever, ever! Begone, you bad man, you!
