Y&R’s Camryn Grimes Loses ‘A Piece of My Heart’ In Devastating Goodbye

The Young and the Restless star Camryn Grimes suffered a heartbreaking loss yesterday. The actress who portrays Mariah Copeland on the soap opera recently welcomed her son, and now she has to say goodbye to the being named Riley who first made her a mom.

Grimes took to Instagram to pay tribute to her dog, who’d been a member of her family for nearly a decade and a half. Alongside several pictures of her furry pup, she wrote, “One day in 2009, while living in New York City, I went to the movies to see I Love You, Man. In the movie, Jason Segel’s character has a dog, which he would explain was a mix of a pug and a beagle… a Puggle. I was instantly in love, and less than a year later, I held a little girl in my arms, and our lives together started. I named her Riley.

“Yesterday, I held my little girl in my arms for the last time and told her the story of us,” Grimes continued. “I thanked her for every chapter she spent by my side, every day she was the reason I got out of bed, and all the days she was compassionate when I didn’t. Homes and relationships, happiness and heartbreak, I was okay because she was my constant.

“My Riley girl, you are and always will be the first to make me a mom, thank you for walking me to the newest chapter of my life, I’m devastated that ours has come to an end,” she continued. “A piece of my heart is gone with you. I love you forever. ❣️”

Grimes’s Y&R co-stars offered her loving words of condolence. “I’m so sorry Cammy😭 She and Soph are entering heaven together this week and playing for sure🐾💞,” wrote Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), who recently suffered a similar heartbreak.

Bryton James (Devon), Melissa Ordway (Abby), Tracey Bregman (Lauren), Hunter King (ex-Summer), Lauralee Bell (Christine), and Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) sent Grimes their love. Courtney Hope (Sally) wrote, “I’m so sorry 😢- what a sweet face. I know how much you loved her. Sending you love. 💕”
