Brian Gaskill has appeared on several soap operas and most recently played Seth Baker on The Young and the Restless. But there was one show that he truly enjoyed. When that ended, he was faced with tough decisions. He recently opened up about his regrets over the choice he made.
Gaskill played the angel Rafe Kovich on the General Hospital spin-off series Port Charles. Rafe helped the city’s residents battle the forces of darkness. But when the show ended in 2003, some opportunities presented themselves, and he had to decide where to go next. He told Soaps that the choice he made was one he regrets to this day.

Believing that PC would have lasted another year, the cancellation was unexpected. Nevertheless, he had a couple of offers: he could have reprised his All My Children character, Bobby. The other option was to play Oscar Marone on The Bold and the Beautiful. Ultimately, he chose B&B because he wanted to stay in California instead of moving to New York. “I was really heartbroken at the time, and I wasn’t trying to take it out on ABC or anything,” he stated.
He regretted not returning to the role of Bobby because he felt the second time around would have emboldened his connection to the character. Looking back, he asked himself, “Why didn’t I just stay on one of these shows for 20 years and live a normal life instead of trying to find myself all over the place[?]”

After his stint on PC, he nabbed a role on As the World Turns briefly in 2005, and later in 2007, he found himself on Guiding Light. His Y&R role as Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) AA sponsor, Seth, was brief when he eventually got killed off, but it’s been nice to see him still making the soapy rounds!
