On the February 15 episode of The Young and the Restless, Ashley suffered a minor car accident. However, this triggered a memory of when she ended up in a tragic wreck that caused her to lose Baby Robert.
Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) were expecting their first child together in an effort to save their marriage. Ashley was thrilled to be pregnant, and she and Brad were eagerly preparing for their bundle of joy to arrive. As she was close to delivering her baby, taking time away at a resort, competing products from Jabot and Newman Enterprises were launched amid the neverending war between the two companies.
Victor (Eric Braeden) went to the resort to tell Ashley not to worry, which made her worry more, and she decided to drive to Genoa City to check on this. On her way to town, Ashley got into a terrible wreck, and she had to be cut from the vehicle. Ashley sustained significant injuries and slipped into a coma. When she finally awoke, she learned the distressing news that she had lost the baby as a result of the crash. Even worse, she learned she couldn’t have any more children.
Ashley was devastated to learn that, and she, along with nearly everybody else, blamed Victor. She had a mental breakdown and started showing everybody a blanket, which she said was her son. Ashley got help, but she wasn’t doing well for several months. Ultimately, Victor went to talk to her, and she snapped out of it, also telling him that he was Abby’s biological father because she’d stolen his sperm and had herself inseminated. Ultimately, Brad and Ashley divorced.
Quite a bit later, Ashley beat the odds and became pregnant with Victor’s child. However, Adam was gaslighting her into thinking she’d lost her mind, and during his elaborate games, she miscarried the baby. Adam convinced her Ashley was still pregnant and paid off a doctor.
When she and Sharon (Sharon Case) ended up in the same psychiatric hospital, the same doctor took Sharon’s baby, passing her off as Ashley and Victor’s, telling Sharon her child had died. After some time, the truth came out that Ashley and Victor’s daughter Hope was really Sharon and Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) daughter Faith.
Ashley has a history of mental breakdowns, and she’s also been gaslighted before. That’s one reason she’s so worried that Tucker (Trevor St. John) is gaslighting her, but is he really? Or is Ashley actually misremembering what happened in Paris?
