7 Things to Know About Young and the Restless Star Vail Bloom

Paul Williams’s long-missing daughter, Heather, is heading back to The Young and the Restless, and Vail Bloom is returning to the role. Bloom originated the adult version of the character in 2007, and played Heather until 2010. After her departure, Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca, All My Children) and Jennifer Landon (ex-Gwen, As the World Turns) took turns playing the freewheeling attorney.

Bloom has had a successful career since departing the soap, having appeared in the movies Surviving the Wild, Too Late, A Valentine’s Date, and more, as well as the series Castle, Entourage, and Cold Case. Want to learn more about the actress? Here are seven things to know about Vail Bloom.

1. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Bloom graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture.

2. In 2003, she took part in Maxim Magazine’s annual Hometown Hotties, a contest that invites women across the United States to enter for a chance at becoming a Maxim spokesmodel. She finished third in the competition.

3. The actress received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series for the role of Y&R’s Heather back in 2008. Ironically she lost to Jennifer Landon (ex-Gwen Norbeck, As the World Turns), an actress who later took over her Y&R role.

4. Bloom appeared in Season 3 of the reality series Vanderpump Rules as a new waitress at Lisa Vanderpump’s West Hollywood restaurant, SUR. She had a rather peaceful initiation into the group, staying out of the cast’s drama.

5. During an interview post-Y&R, Bloom admitted that she slipped into the world of partying and drugs around the time she was on the soap, which could explain why she unexpectedly left the show. These days she meditates regularly and has put that part of her life behind her.

6. She’s the proud mother of two children: daughter Charlie Olivia Grace born in 2018, and son Jack Rene Rose born in 2020.
