Looking At Amanda’s Role In The Young and the Restless Baby Disaster

The Young and the Restless fans are split on the baby Dominic story, some siding with Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor’s claim on the child she worked so hard to bring into the world, others seeing Devon Hamilton’s point of view that he should step in to play Daddy if Chance Chancellor is admitting he isn’t ready to.

And then there are the ones upset that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), who did the majority of the heavy lifting, isn’t even a consideration. But what about Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) role?

Just Doing My Job

Amanda initially stepped into the labyrinth by drawing up the contract between sperm donor Devon (Bryton James) and mommy-to-be, Abby (Melissa Ordway). She tried several times, to make Devon think about what this generous act of his would really mean, and how he would feel seeing a child of his raised by someone else.

Eh, everything will be fine, Devon reassured. So Amanda dutifully drew up the papers. And kept her mouth shut.

Young and the Restless: Fork in the Road

When Abby dumped the baby on Devon, Amanda helped him take care of the tot on The Young and the Restless. And when Devon decided he wanted legal visitation, Amanda went back to the contract drawing board. She was able to get her boyfriend access to his biological son, and now she’s basically co-parenting him along with Devon, Abby, and Chance.

Y&R: The Biggest Loser

But what no one seems to be addressing is that Amanda is the only one without a single claim to Dominic on The Young and the Restless. Chance and Abby are his legal parents, Devon is the godfather. Amanda is… the godfather’s live-in girlfriend. For now.

She made it clear to Devon that she’s already so attached to the kid that she’s imagining his future. So what happens if she and Devon break up? Will she be dropped as unceremoniously as… Mariah? Maybe it’s time for Amanda to draw up another contract… this time to protect herself.
