Someone wants to make sure that Young and the Restless‘s resident amnesiac Matt Clark doesn’t try to leave his hotel room or Genoa City. That must be why he is bound and gagged and on the floor of his posh hotel room in photos for the Thursday, May 21 episode.

Key Takeaways

  • Patty frees Matt before Phyllis can bring Nick to him, putting her deal in jeopardy.
  • Lily reconnects with familiar faces and checks in with Cane.
  • Nick’s growing addiction crisis could push Victor and Nikki back onto the same page.

Scenes from Genoa City

Matt’s in a pickle. He now knows that Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) really did have her own agenda. Patty (Stacy Haiduk) tried to warn him— she unfortunately didn’t know the specifics. She has no idea that Phyllis needs Matt (Roger Howarth) to help keep her out of prison. Unfortunately for the Summer Conglomerate CEO, she doesn’t stick to Matt like glue. Instead, she makes herself scarce, and guess who comes along to free Matt? Patty does.

And look how empty Matt’s hotel room is when Phyllis FINALLY brings Nick (Joshua Morrow) to his nemesis. The guy is gone, which means the deal is off, right, Phyllis? Hopefully, Nick won’t spiral too much. Matt is out there, and they will need to track him down.

Lily (Christel Khalil) arrives in New York City to support Malcolm (Shemar Moore) through his surgery. And even though Lily reconnects with Holden (Nathan Owens) and Stephanie (Vivica A. Fox), she manages to call Cane (with a big smile on her face), presumably to give him an update and check on how he’s feeling. Cane (Billy Flynn) looks pretty comfortable as he talks to his ex-wife.

When he’s not on the phone, Cane deals with Billy (Jason Thompson), who stops by the train. Billy may still be worried that he’ll be arrested, just like Cane and Phyllis. But so far, so good for him. Christine (Lauralee Bell) doesn’t seem to be looking his way…yet.

Jack (Peter Bergman) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) seem to be in the middle of an intense conversation. Their respective marriages are in shambles while their friendship is better than ever. However, circumstances may change. The teasers reveal that Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki will put aside their differences to save Nick, whose addiction is reaching dangerous new levels. This crisis could be what reunites them.

Jack, on the other hand, allegedly has a change of heart about Patty. And that may mean that Jack and Diane (Susan Walters) won’t be reuniting anytime soon.
