Is Y&R Alum Sasha Calle’s Supergirl Headed to HBO MAX?

 Comments

Sasha Calle exited The Young and the Restless earlier this year following the news that she’d been cast as Supergirl, set to debut in the upcoming film The Flash. Now, a site is reporting that there are additional plans for the Maid of Might!

Sasha Calle Will Be A Super-Streaming Girl?

The Hashtag Show reports that Warner Bros. is taking characters from its DC films and using them in HBO Max (streaming) series. The site is hearing that the latest character to get this treatment will be Supergirl. “…I am hearing from my sources [Supergirl] was originally planned to be a movie released exclusively on HBO Max; but once the script was getting more significant work done, the writers realized that for the show to properly tell it’s [sic] story it needed a longer format and the movie became a show.”

Reportedly, the series will explore Supergirl’s past and examine what makes her her. Viewers will see Kara Zor-El train and learn how to use her powers. In addition to Calle’s casting, there’s buzz that Michael Keaton will pop up in the series as Bruce Wayne AKA Batman.

Sasha Calle’s Restless Days

Calle joined Y&R in 2018 as independent Lola Rosales, a young woman determined to make it on her own. She fell for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and the two conquered many obstacles including him buying her an expensive purse for the holidays in order to get married in what was promoted as “the wedding of the year!” Alas, the honeymoon and the marriage were short-lived. Kyle and Lola split up. He returned to his first wife, Summer (Hunter King), who is on her way to becoming his third wife.

From Soaps To Super-heroes To Soaps

There’s a tradition of daytime actors becoming Kryptonians on the big screen. The late Christopher Reeve (ex-Ben, Love of Life) made people believe a man could fly, playing the title role in 1978’s Superman. Brandon Routh (ex-Seth, One Life to Live) continued Kal-El’s journey in 2006’s Superman Returns. Helen Slater who played the title role in 1984’s Supergirl popped up as Dr. Chiverton on Y&R in 2014! Also, former Y&R star Hartley Sawyer (ex-Kyle) played the Elongated Man on the TV show The Flash. Also, Justin Hartley played Oliver Queen AKA Green Arrow on Smallville prior to joining Y&R as one of the show’s many Adams. Soap Hub will bring more details of Sasha Calle’s journey as Supergirl as details become available.
