Is Cane Overreacting To Mattie Dating Reed On The Young and the Restless?

Juliet can count on Cane to be an overprotective dad to their child given his response to Mattie and Reed’s relationship on The Young and the Restless (YR).

It’s one thing for Cane (Daniel Goddard) to be concerned, but to keep Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) away from Victoria’s son entirely seems a bit much. Do fans agree? Soap Hub asked you to weigh in and the response may surprise you!

Daddy Issues
A little over 85% of you voted that Cane is acting “WAY over the top” about Mattie and Reed seeing each other. The ousted exec shouldn’t be taking it out on his daughter that she’s been socially seeing the son of the woman who gave him his walking papers at Brash & Sassy.

Heck, Cane should consider himself lucky that Mattie and Reed are close. Sure, he could use a haircut, but what youngster couldn’t? He’s a nice kid, who has a kind heart, and he plays the guitar. It’s not like he’s a bad boy or someone who is on the wrong side of the law.

Cane should let the two date if for no other reason than Mattie could help encourage Reed to show his mom (Victoria) that Cane’s not a bad guy, and maybe he could even be given his job back.

A comparatively small, but still vocal number of you, a little over 14%, don’t see anything wrong with Cane’s concern, opting to vote “No, the two families don’t get along and she’s too young.”

Given what happened to Mattie’s mother when she was around the same age (Kevin lured her over the Internet and infected her with a curable STD), Cane’s laying down the law about Reed is perhaps understandable.

Also, Cane may be unsure of his role in the family now given all the strife his one-night romp with Juliet has brought into the Ashby household so he may overcompensate for some time.
