How Young and The Restless Screwed Up Sally Spectra’s Awesomeness

The Young and the Restless wholly screwed up Sally Spectra when fans had been so looking forward to her Genoa City exploits. With so much potential for classic soapy drama, the writers aren’t using Sally to her fullest.

Young and the Restless Makes Sally A Big Flop

When Sally (Courtney Hope) appeared on Y&R’s sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful, she used every trick in the book to get what she wanted. She stole fashion designs to try to make a name for herself. Sure, she went way too far pretending to have an illness to keep her man, but that’s good daytime drama.

Sally seemed poised to take Genoa City by storm when she showed up last November. Instead, she ran into problems with Summer Newman (Hunter King) and found herself stuck as Lauren Fenmore’s (Tracey Bregman) assistant. That lowly job left Sally less than thrilled.

Ultimately, Sally came out on top when she ended up getting Summer to leave town. However, that move caused her to lose her budding romance with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) in the process. Plus, she made a mortal enemy of Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). In many ways, it seems Sally is poised to be Phyllis 2.0. However, nobody in Genoa City appears to let her get away with misdeeds the way Phyllis does.

Where Does Sally Spectra Fit?

Now Sally has something slowly brewing with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), which doesn’t make Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) happy, given Sally’s past with his beloved granddaughter, Summer. Of course, a little thing like Victor’s ire never stopped Adam. These two have undeniable chemistry, but Adam is trying to stay on the straight and narrow for the umpteenth time. Adam’s desire to be good means he’s kept Sally at arm’s length after the show teased their relationship during the launch party.

Y&R spoilers show Sally going out on a limb to create a stunning wedding dress for Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). The desperate move might not be enough to get Sally deeply embedded into the juicy storylines on the soap, especially if Vicky doesn’t appreciate Sally’s efforts. But at least there may be some hope!

For now, it seems like Young and the Restless is wasting this incredible character and talented actress, and we’re ready to see Sally become a force to be reckoned with in Genoa City. Hopefully, Y&R quickly realizes that it is throwing away too much potential for soapy drama with Sally and fixes that issue as soon as possible.
