No one would argue that the courtship of Victoria Newman and Ashland Locke has gone at light speed on The Young and the Restless. In the course of a couple of months, they’ve partnered up professionally, personally, and now are planning a wedding with their nearest and dearest. Well, not all of them.
Considering how fast this wedding — in Italy no less — has been assembled, it’s not surprising that a few details have slipped through the cracks but to forget your oldest son? Oh Victoria (Amelia Heinle), that’s not nice! Has anyone said anything about whether or not Reed Hellstrom (Tristan Lake Leabu) has been considered or contacted about his mom’s new love?
Poor Reed has been through a lot over the years, most recently when he thought his father, JT Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill), was dead. He then had to learn about the way his father treated his mother, his father’s attempted murder of his grandpa Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and his eventual Young and the Restless jail time — never mind that time his mother was almost stabbed to death.
Wouldn’t it be nice for the young man to have something wonderful to celebrate? Then again, perhaps this shows where Victoria’s head is really at. Could her motivation for this merger, um marriage, to Ashland have more to do with business than love, and therefore she wants to keep her eldest as far away as possible?
One would think invitations went out long before Ashland’s (Richard Burgi) secrets started spilling out, so we doubt it has to do with that. So what is the real reason Reed hasn’t been mentioned, nor introduced to his next stepdad? Was this a show oversight or a plot point to be dealt with later? Inquiring minds want to know!
