Guess Which Daytime Leading Lady Got Her Start With Alfred Hitchcock

It’s no secret that some of daytime’s hottest leading ladies got their starts with some of Hollywood’s greatest!

Which Daytime Star Was It?

Mary Beth Evans (Kayla, DAYS), Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, YR), Finola Hughes (Anna, GH), and Katherine Kelly Lang are staples in the soap world. However, one of these successful women started her incredible career with none other than Alfred Hitchcock.

While she’s arguably most famous for her role as Kayla on Days of Our Lives, where she’s the “better” half of the super couple Stayla, she got her start away from the long-lasting sudser.

This Emmy-award winning actress got her start in the movie Lovelines as Piper. You also might remember seeing her in Knight Rider, Monk, and Criminal Minds to name a few of her primetime appearances. Alas, she is not the one who got her start with The Master of Suspense.

Katherine Kelly Lang
This blonde beauty appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful from its beginning! However, she kicked off her career appearing with the late Patrick Swayze in the film Skatetown, USA. She also guest-starred on Happy Days and The Fall Guy among other primetime hits.

She didn’t start out in a movie with the pioneer of the psychological thriller genre, though.

Finola Hughes
This talented star got her start on the stage, in the London production of the musical Cats. Her big-screen debut was with none other than John Travolta in the 1983 sequel to Saturday Night Fever called Staying Alive.

During the last season of primetime’s Blossom, Hughes portrayed Carol. She also appeared frequently on the TV show Charmed as the Charmed Ones’ mother, as well as many other forays into nighttime television. Despite her many talents and fabulous co-stars, she didn’t start out in an Alfred Hitchcock film.

Melody Thomas Scott
While she’s best known for her role as Nikki on The Young and the Restless, Melody Thomas Scott actually began acting as a child. Her first credit was in the Alfred Hitchcock movie Marnie in 1964 (Sean Connery also starred while in between shooting James Bond films).

Another notable role she had was in the 1976 film The Shootist, which was John Wayne’s final movie. Prior to her move to daytime, this popular diva had a recurring role on The Waltons.

She gave up that primetime role to take on Nikki in 1979. Scott has said, “It’s a miracle for an actor to have a job last 35 years. I am so blessed.”
