Ever since Chelsea returned to The Young and the Restless, fans haven’t known what to make of her. First, she was terrified of Adam (Mark Grossman). Then she was in love with Nick (Joshua Morrow). Then she was madly in love with Adam, defending his every action to all and sundry.

Adam isn’t the only one who needs a mental tune-up, 43% of you insist, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) also needs a therapist – stat. She obviously doesn’t know her own mind and, even worse, she can’t even figure out what’s good for her and, most importantly, for Connor (Judah Mackey). She is willing to ruin her friendship with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), and walk away from her career for Adam. This is not a woman who is thinking clearly.

Chelsea has always loved Adam, 33% of the audience reminds us, there is nothing new here. Nick was a way to ignore her feelings. Once Chelsea realized that was impossible, she leaned all-in. We should be praising her loyalty – Victor (Eric Braeden) would approve – not turning it into a pathology.

Oh, Chelsea — Who Am I?

We always knew Chelsea had low self-esteem, 24% sigh, but now she’s lost all of her self-respect. She’s put Adam’s well-being ahead of her own and Connor’s. She doesn’t think she deserves to be truly loved, so she is settling for this push-pull. The man was going to kill his family! Does she think he won’t eventually turn on her and Connor?
