Considering that Gloria was once Jack’s despised stepmother on The Young and the Restless (YR), this torrid turn in their relationship is pretty shocking – and yet is it really?
After all, it’s a fine line between love and hate. We all know that Jack’s hated his stepmother before and bedded her – but back then her name was Jill (Jess Walton).
At least this time his father isn’t alive, so he won’t feel utterly betrayed.
So, is this a simple case of acting out (is one ever too old to do that?!) because his life fell apart after Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) cheated on him with his brother? Who cares what the reason is because the result is getting to see Peter Bergman’s Jack finally have a little fun in his life.
And seriously, who is more of a guilty pleasure than Judith Chapman’s Gloria? These two masterful actors look to be having the time of their lives while their characters get a new lease on life.
Let’s face it – the mortified reaction of Ashley (Eileen Davidson) alone, upon learning her brother was bedding her former stepmonster, was worth the price of admission. But, this is so much more now that it’s being allowed to time to play out.
So, where can this unbelievable “relationship” possibly lead? At first, it seemed to just be the semi-random hookup of two drunk individuals with a volatile history, but now the two have developed a bond where they seem to be learning to appreciate each other and offer support.

Add to that Jack discussing his mommy issues (which felt…you know…creepy) with Gloria and these two are showing unusual staying power.
Jack has a woman who will support his bad self without trying to change him, and Gloria has proven to be a partner in every sense of the word.
But will either of them be able to relax enough to not expect a knife in the back from the other? Probably not and that’s just fine. It’s something to keep the pairing exciting, and we’re pretty sure both characters like it that way.
