First Impressions: Does Sally Deserve Everybody’s Scorn On The Young and the Restless

Before she came to The Young and the Restless, Sally had done some truly terrible things on The Bold and the Beautiful. But, here’s the kicker: Nobody in Genoa City knew about that.

Yet, the minute they set eyes on Sally, they decided she was bad news. And treated her accordingly. Did she deserve the shunning? What the fans told us:

Wanting Leads To Suffering

The reason that 61% of the audience knew that Sally (Courtney Hope) was bad news the first time they set eyes on her, was because Sally wanted things. She wanted a job at Jabot. Well, jobs at Jabot can’t just be handed out to anybody.

Having run your own fashion house in Los Angeles is nice, sure. But it’s not the same as having been born into the family business like Kyle (Michael Mealor), or being born into another family business then preparing to marry into another one like Summer (Hunter King). If Sally had worked harder, planned ahead, and been a better person, she also could have been born with a silver spoon in her mouth. As it is, wanting what other people had was just tacky.

Not Good Enough

The minute Sally started hanging out with Jack (Peter Bergman), Summer and Kyle assumed she was up to no good. They never gave her a fair chance, 24% of you counter. Summer even went out of her way to bad mouth Sally to Lauren (Tracey Bregman). She just came off as petty and entitled.

I Knew It

Now that Sally is scheming with Ashland (Richard Burgi), all of the suspicions Summer and Kyle had about her are coming true, 15% of the fans cheer. This will prove that they were right to think the worst of her without any evidence. And that didn’t force her into this position at all! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
