Steve Burton wins the Emmy
And the winner was… Steve Burton!
On April 30, 2017 the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor went to Steve Burton for the role of Dylan on The Young and the Restless (YR). He previously won the same trophy for playing Jason on General Hospital almost 20 years ago, in 1998.

Picking a Winner
Though it was a competitive category, 60% of you had no doubt the actor who left his role late last year would triumph in the end.
After all, he not only showed his range when Dylan confronted Sharon (Sharon Case) about Sully’s true parentage, he also had to say goodbye to the boy and hand him over to Nick (Joshua Morrow).
He also had to deal with Faith’s trauma and, pivoting in a completely different direction, go undercover as a drug-dealing scum-bucket — which lead to his going into Witness Protection and abandoning his Genoa City family, including Paul (Doug Davidson) and Nikki.
The last time Burton won the Emmy, he was just a brain-damaged hitman with one facial expression and a monotone to match.
Out of the Blue
On the other hand, 40% of soap opera fans put their money down on a different horse. In order to win, Burton had to beat:
* John Aniston (Victor; Days Of Our Lives), whose daytime career goes back to Love of Life and Search for Tomorrow, plus he had a year with a paralyzed wife, a grandson in need of a heart transplant, a scheming brother… and let’s not forget the Jennifer factor!
* Chad Duell (Michael; General Hospital), it was his second nomination, and he got to cry over Sabrina (Teresa Castillo)!
* Jeffrey Vincent Parise (Carlos/Joe; General Hospital), who played twins, one priestly, one mobby.
* James Reynolds (Abe; Days Of Our Lives), another vet with two nominations, and a long-lost daughter on the canvas.
