What did he just say, The Young and the Restless fans wondered, as Victor expressed his approval of Faith hanging out with her new friend, Moses? Obviously, Victor (Eric Braeden) thought Sharon was on the edge of her seat, waiting to hear his opinion – by observing that the boy was Neil’s grandson.
Moses (Jacob Aaron Grimes) is, in fact, the late Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) son. Viewers may have forgotten since they haven’t seen the boy, or his mother, Sophia, in almost a decade. Moses said to Devon (Bryton James) that he was at Neil’s funeral, but we certainly never saw him there.
Understandable Mistake
We can also understand Victor’s (Eric Braeden) confusion, since Moses is younger than Neil’s actual grandson, Charlie (and his twin sister, Mattie). But that’s the beauty of living in a soap town. Jack (Peter Bergman) helped raise his stepson, Nick (Joshua Morrow). A few years later, they were both potential fathers for Phyllis’s (Michelle Stafford) daughter, Summer (Hunter King). Age is a fluid thing in Genoa City.
Slip Of the Tongue
We’ve got a lot of bones to pick with Victor. He’s a terrible father, a terrible husband, a terrible person – and he has no intention of improving or even admitting he might be less than perfect. However, a slip of the tongue is not among his major offenses. It’s the kind of thing that can easily happen in real life, so why not on TV?
A Little Birdie Told Me
Some fans online speculated that the mistake was deliberate, a subtle hint of Victor beginning to lose his faculties, the start of a heartbreaking story. But YR doesn’t do subtle. Not these days, anyway.
The mistake was Braeden’s (and The Powers That Be, who didn’t catch it, stop tape, or at least cut it out of the air show). When asked about it on Twitter, the actor responded, “Well, forgive Victor! How the hell can he keep everyone apart??” He certainly has a point! The actor was also quick to lay praise on his co-stars who recently have had far more dialogue they’ve had to say.
“Good night everyone,” Braeden began on twitter! “Had a great week at work with some of my great colleagues! Lucky to have so many good a goes on the show! Missy Claire Egan [Chelsea] and Mar[k] Grossman [Adam] had so many damn lines one day, I sat there and listened with respect for what they did with all that dialogue!!”
His kinds words meant a lot to Egan, who responded, “Awwwe, thank you Eric!! We learn from you, the legend!❤️” The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
