Eileen Davidson has reportedly quit her role as Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless. The actress has played the role on and off since 1982.
Daytime Confidential broke the news that Davidson quit and that part of her decision was based on she wants to spend more time with her family.
The report also speculated that her reason to exit the top-rated CBS soap was also related to not receiving a raise.
The show recently lost Mishael Morgan (soon-to-be-ex-Hilary) over her not getting a pay bump, according to an interview given by her agent.
Davidson won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series this year for her role as Ashley.
In the press room, Davidson, who had previously won for playing Kristen on Days of Our Lives in 2014, said she was surprised she won the statuette this year for Y&R’s Ashley partly because she didn’t have a particularly specific storyline.
“I was shocked,” Davidson said backstage at the awards show. “I was picking from a lot of different shows. It’s not like I had a real strong storyline like I did when I won on DAYS. It was just a really weird year for me. I just didn’t think it was me [this year]. Didn’t I look shocked?”
Now, it’s Y&R fans who are shocked over this stunning news!
