Courtney Hope’s latest gig has her playing the role of a lifetime. The Young and the Restless actress is playing Mary in The Christ podcast. Having the chance to be part of the project did wonders for Hope, who says it was the answer to her prayers.

Key Takeaways

  • Hope’s newest role is Mary, mother of Jesus, in The Christ podcast.
  • Hope says the role helped with her faith.
  • The podcast features an all-star cast.

Renewed Faith

These days, Hope is known for her role as Sally on Y&R. But her latest project is playing Mary, the mother of Jesus, in The Christ podcast. The four-part series, now streaming on the Faith Podcast Network, follows the life of Jesus.

Being part of the podcast was a dream for Hope, whose faith was renewed. In an interview with ChurchLeaders.com, the actress said she’d begun to lose her faith during a difficult time.

“I was vigorously praying and it just wasn’t happening,” Hope recalled of the situation involving a loved one. “I had kind of lost a moment of faith.”

But days later, she received an email about the role, and it helped kickstart Hope into regaining her faith. Thanks to the role, the actress has a new perspective on life. “I needed to just love the people around me and trust that there is a purpose and there is a reason and that God will prevail.”

Famous Co-Stars

Hope’s co-stars in The Christ includes many of Hollywood’s elite. Former Guiding Light actor Tom Pelphrey stars as Jesus, while Cobra Kai star Paul Walter Hauser is John the Baptist. Rounding out the cast is David Oyelowo as Pontius Pilate and Patricia Heaton and John Rhys-Davies as the podcast’s host and narrator.

While there’s been many movies made about Jesus’ life, Hope believes the podcast offers a different experience. “With all of the soundscapes, it’s so real and so powerful. that you can’t help but immerse yourself in it.”

Working on the podcast and listening to the final cut “really moved” Hope. With a renewed faith and positive attitude, things are looking up for the Daytime Emmy winner.
