Tom Pelphrey is coming off a stellar appearance as Ozark’s Ben Davis, Wendy’s (Laura Linney) bipolar brother, and now is headed to another streaming service, set to star in Amazon’s mystery drama, Outer Range.

Tom Pelphrey Joins New Series

Of course, daytime fans have fond memories of Pelphrey from his early acting days playing Jonathan Randall on Guiding Light and Mick Dante on As the World Turns and have known for ages what a strong and charming actor he is.

According to Deadline, Pelphrey will join Josh Brolin, Lili Taylor, and Tamara Podemski as series regulars in the new Amazon TV show, which was created and written by playwright Brian Watkins.

“Get to go play with the great and powerful [Josh Brolin],” Pelphrey posted on his Instagram page, including a link to the Deadline story.

The show centers around Royal Abbott (Brolin), a rancher who must fight for both his land and family when he discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness.

Taylor plays Abbott matriarch Cecilia, a woman rooted in deep faith; Podemski plays Deputy Sheriff Joy, the first gay Native American to ever run for sheriff, while  Pelphrey portrays Perry Abbott, the dutiful, eldest Abbott son, who is torn up inside by the lingering mystery of his missing wife.

Pelphrey will also soon be seen as Joseph Mankiewicz in David Fincher’s Netflix film, Mank, which critics are already heralding as a possible Best Picture nominee for 2020. The black-and-white Hollywood drama will bow on Dec. 4. Gary Oldman and Amanda Seyfried also star.

“So excited to be a part of this. Two of my film heroes,” the actor wrote on Twitter earlier this month, including a trailer for the film and tagging his heroes, Oldman and Fincher. His longtime fans are pleased that he’s getting an opportunity to shine.
