Y&R IQ Test: Does Kyle Really Think He’s the Smartest Abbott?

Kyle Abbott has thrown caution to the wind on The Young and the Restless and is now all in on Audra and Tucker’s plan to take Jabot from the Abbott family. He really believes they will then sweetly hand it over to him and pat him on the head for being such an excellent team player. When questioned by his family, Kyle slickly made up answers to keep them completely in the dark. He thinks. Or does he? Does Kyle ever think? And, when he does, does he honestly think he is the smartest member of the Abbott family?

Kyle (Michael Mealor) told Audra (Zuleyka Silver) that he is siding with her because he is tired of being sidelined at Jabot. Yeah! Why would Jack (Peter Bergman), Ashley (Eileen Davidson), and Billy (Jason Thompson), who, between them, have over a century of business experience, possibly think they might know what they’re doing better than a kid who didn’t go to college and whose last CEO job came… because Daddy bought him a company to play with? What kind of logic is that? Senility in Genoa City must be catching!

When Ashley asked Kyle if he so much as considered the possibility that Audra was using him — on Tucker’s (Trevor St. John) orders — Kyle only smirked knowingly. Now, we do realize that smirking is Kyle’s default expression — when he isn’t on the edge of tears, eyes welling, and chin trembling. But did no part of Ashley’s words make a dent? Is he that sure it’s absolutely impossible?

Kyle has been played before. By Victor (Eric Braeden). By Theo, by Summer (Allison Lanier), by Tara (Elizabeth Leiner). Heck, we bet even Harrison (Kellen Enriquez) can get whatever he wants out of him. Where — beyond being a rich, straight, white man — does Kyle get the self-confidence to think he’s the smartest person in the room?
