Young and the Restless: The Angst Of Connor Newman Feels False

We’re back to worrying about Connor Newman on The Young and the Restless. Connon is sad. Connor is frowny. Connor is suffering as no other child has ever suffered before. That’s the problem. We’re not saying that Connor doesn’t have dozens of reasons to be traumatized. But, so does every other child in Genoa City. So why is he the only one?

Connor Newman: Hurts So Good

Connor (Judah Mackey) is all down in the dumps because his dad — who previously spent every waking moment only thinking about how he could make Connor happy — was about to have another baby (and the little boy doesn’t know his sister didn’t make it). Also, his mom — who previously spent every waking moment only thinking about how he could make Connor happy — has reconnected with Johnny (Paxton Mishkind), the son she gave up for adoption, and is now paying a smidge of attention to him.

Sibling rivalry is a real thing, and we get that Connor would feel put out about both of those developments. But, it’s weird that he’s the only child in Genoa City with psychological issues.

Young and the Restless Other Brother

Arguably, Johnny should be the more traumatized one in this situation. He just discovered that his cousin’s mom is also his birth mom. That’s a big deal. And, then there’s Christian. Wherever he is, shouldn’t he be wondering where his dad is? Not to mention all the maternal figures he’s lost over the years?

Only a few years ago, Connor’s cousin Faith (Reylynn Caster) met the man who had her kidnapped as a baby, was bullied at school, crashed her car, and needed a kidney transplant. Now she’s just been kidnapped. But what do you want to bet she’ll bounce back quicker from her ordeal than Connor?

Connor Newman: Young and the Restless Long Line

Then there’s Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu), who thought his mom killed his dad. Harrison (Kellen Enriquez), who lost both his mother and his father and now lives with a pair of strangers who insist he calls them “Mommy” and “Daddy.” Lily’s (Christel Khalil) twins, whose mother went to jail and whose dad came back from the dead and is now MIA. The fact is, ALL Genoa City young people should be the walking wounded. It feels kind of off that Connor is the only one.
