On The Young and the Restless strange things have happened since Diane Jenkins returned to Genoa City. Perhaps one of the strangest occurred when Ashley Abbott actually defended Phyllis Summers to her brother Jack Abbott. Not only did our jaws drop, but pigs flew (see exhibit A above).

Young and the Restless Shocker

Jack (Peter Bergman) made it quite clear to Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) that he’s disgusted by her behavior when it comes to Diane (Susan Walters). Phyllis rubbed Diane’s nose in their intimate moment, which disgusted Jack to his core, so he ended things. No matter how much Phyllis apologized, he remained unmoved.

However, when Ashley (Eileen Davidson) heard the details, she surprised us along with her brother by taking Phyllis’s side. Did hell freeze over? It sure seemed like it because Ashley is absolutely not Team Phyllis by any stretch of the imagination, so for her to understand where “Red” is coming from should give Jack a pause. Although he doesn’t know it, even Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) came down on Phyllis’s side, so that’s saying a lot.

What do you think? Post a comment!

It seems Jack is leaning well into being Team Diane, which honestly validates Phyllis’s concerns in a lot of ways. He should not only listen to his sister but also take a long, hard look at himself to figure out where he’s truly coming from. Is he really only thinking of Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), or does he have some unresolved feelings for Diane that Phyllis is picking up on? What do you think? Is Jack making a big mistake?
