Young and the Restless Owes ‘Skyle’ And Fans A Real Wedding

Last year on The Young and the Restless, Kyle Abbott and Summer Newman Abbott got married — off-screen. At the same time, Victoria Newman and Ashland Locke got a big wedding in Tuscany, Italy. We can’t help but feel that the soap owes “Skyle” and the fans a real wedding for these two legacy characters.

Young And The Restless Needs To Give ‘Skyle’ A Wedding

Ashland (Robert Newman) is dead, and all Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is left with is the (bad) memories. Now, sure, we realize there were some casting shakeups that likely caused some storyline adjustment, but still, we feel cheated because instead of giving Summer (now Allison Lanier) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) a memorable wedding, Y&R bestowed that on Ashland and Victoria, who didn’t even make it a year.

Now, Kyle and Summer are happily back in Genoa City, making the best of the end of their first year of marriage together. It’s been a big year with Kyle’s mom, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) return from the dead, the couple moving Marchetti to the U.S., and having to tell Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) that Father died.

Given all they’ve gone through even before this, fans and the couple deserved a ceremony. Perhaps Kyle and Summer should plan a big vow renewal to coincide with the grand reopening of Marchetti — and their first anniversary.

We can just imagine the drama such a moment might dredge up between Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Diane. Plus, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) might even get in on the cattiness. And don’t forget Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). That way, we get some drama as well as some sweet memories of Kyle and Summer saying their “I dos” onscreen…this time.
