Victoria decided to focus on her long-long daughter on The Young and the Restless. Which meant stepping away from the job she fought so hard for at Newman Enterprises. Considering that Victor talks such a good game about the importance of family, he had no choice but to agree. Without even once yelling that Victoria was betraying him. Instead, he yelled for Nicholas and Adam Newman to settle their differences — again — and work together to fill the hole their sister left.
Adam Newman: Poised For Trouble?
Adam (Mark Grossman) was game. Nick (Joshua Morrow) was grumpy. So, you know, par for the course. But while Nick is whining and pouting, will Adam take advantage to steal the big chair right out from under Victoria (Amelia Heinle)? (Here’s where she decided to do whatever she could to help Claire.)
I Gotta Be Me
This is what Adam has always done, so why wouldn’t he do it again? He’s made it clear he wants to be considered Victor’s (Eric Braeden) heir, and Victoria being busy with Claire (Hayley Erin) is the ideal opportunity to finally get his way.
I Feel For You
On the other hand, Adam is familiar with what it feels like to be kept from your family. He understands what Claire is going through. And he’s got to admire Victoria for trying to reach out to her daughter — in a way Victor never did for him.

In addition, Adam just lost his own newborn, the way that Victoria thought she lost Eve Nicole. He can only imagine what it might be like if he were reunited with Ava Hope. He’s not about to take advantage of such a delicate moment.
Now and Later
For now, anyway. For now, Adam is happy to just step in and help out. But if the situation goes on and on. If Adam starts making his own deals, he’s going to start feeling proprietary. He’ll resent Victoria just stepping in and taking all that power away from him. And that’s when he’ll start plotting to make his role permanent.
