We realize that Victor Newman believes he’s the smartest man not just in the room but in the entire Young and the Restless galaxy. It was so clever of him to get his goons to grab Ashland Locke’s dead body from where Nicholas Newman punched him at Victoria Newman’s house, prop Ashland up in his car and drive it into a lake.

Young and the Restless: A Fine Mess

Now the police believe that Ashland (Robert Newman) died in an accident, and Victor’s (Eric Braeden) family is safe. Pop the champagne and pin that Father of the Year medal on Victor’s chest — yet again.

Young & Restless: Science Fiction

Now, we here at Soap Hub will be the first to admit we don’t have a degree in forensic medicine. We have never performed an autopsy or even hung out with a dead body. But we’ve watched an awful lot of CSI. And even more Law & Order: SVU. And we have some questions.

Young and the Restless: The Coroner’s Report

According to the report Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) charmed out of Genoa City’s most gullible pathologist, Ashland died from a blow to the head.

Question #1: Was there water in his lungs? Because if there was water in his lungs, that means that Ashland was still alive when he went into the water. If there was no water in his lungs, then that means he was already dead. If he was already dead, then he didn’t die from his head hitting the windshield. If he was still alive, then Victor’s people put a breathing man in that car. Nick (Joshua Morrow) didn’t kill him. Victor (Eric Braeden) did.

Y&R: Front and Back

Nick punched Ashland. But the punch didn’t kill him. Falling backward and hitting the back of his head did. If Ashland died when his head hit the windshield, wouldn’t the blow be on the front of his head? (That is how most people drive cars, right? While facing forwards?) So how can the cause of death be striking the windshield if the fatal wound is in the back of his head? Does Victor have an answer for that?
