Why Did Chance Chancellor Give His Y&R House to Abby and Devon?

Once upon a time on The Young and the Restless, when she was married to Chance Chancellor, Abby and Devon wrote up a foolproof contract for having a baby together. Devon would be the sperm donor. Abby and Chance would be the biological parents. Mariah would be the gestational surrogate.

Chance Chancellor: Left Out

Well, the Mariah (Camryn Grimes) part worked out…after a while. The Abby (Melissa Ordway), Chance (Conner Floyd), and Devon (Bryton James) trio? Not so much. After Dominic was born, Abby slept with Devon, and now she and Chance are divorced. But Chance still wants visitation with his son. He picks the tot up for visits and brings Dominic to his house. Well, to what was his house.

Young and the Restless: Early Days

Dominic spent the first few months of his life at the Chancellor mansion, where Abby and Chance lived. But then Devon demanded overnight visits, and Abby and Chance gave in. So Dominic spent a good amount of time at Devon’s penthouse.

After the breakup, Abby and Dominic moved in with Devon. It’s been several months. Only now, Chance has decided it would be better for Dominic if Devon, Abby, and their son moved into the Chancellor mansion because it was Dominic’s first home. Huh? What? Odds are, Dominic barely remembers the place. His new home is with Mommy and…Other Daddy?

Chance Chancellor: Family Tree

Chance, meanwhile, will move out of the house that belonged to his grandfather. The Phillip Chancellor II who was married to Katherine Chancellor. The Katherine Chancellor who brought her stepson, Phillip Chancellor III, to live in Genoa City as a teenager.

The Phillip Chancellor III who married Nina (Tricia Cast) in that very house and brought their son, Phillip Chancellor IV — AKA Chance — there to live with him. All that to say, this isn’t just some place he was passing through. This is Chance’s family home. Dominic doesn’t care where he lives. So what is Chance thinking?
