The Young and the Restless fans know that Victor Newman is obsessed with controlling his children, wanting to be a part of every decision they make, personal and professional. But what, exactly, does he want from Adam Newman these days? Has he ever explained?
Back in the Young and the Restless Fold
Victor (Eric Braeden) told Adam (Mark Grossman) he wants him back in the family fold. What does that mean? Yes, Victor wants Adam to quit working at Jabot and return to Newman Enterprises. But, every time Adam does that, Victor inevitably pulls the rug out from under him.
How many times has he made him president of the company solely as part of a ploy to get Victoria (Amelia Heinle) or Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) to show up and demand to be given the job instead? Which Victor promptly does, thus kicking Adam to the curb. Does he want Adam to come back for more of that? Do you blame Adam for declining?
Y&R: Parental Guidance Suggested
Victor stopped by Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) to stick his nose in her business — under the guise of checking in on his grandson’s mother. When Adam stopped by, Victor got his nose out of joint. Even Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) sounded exasperated that Adam dared show up at Chelsea’s while Victor was talking to her — even though Adam had no way of knowing that Victor would be there, and he has every right to visit Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). Does Victor want Adam to yield Connor’s upbringing to him? Do you blame Adam for declining?

Victor Newman: Bring Him Down
Now, Victor has decided that Adam refusing to do what Victor says, both personally and professionally, has gone on long enough. The wayward boy needs to be taught a lesson. Victor actually announced that he is going to make it so his son hits rock bottom, suffers a major defeat, and that will make him appreciate his father’s attempt to bring him back into the family. Will you blame Adam for declining this generous offer once Victor’s role in humiliating him — yet again — comes to light?
