On The Young and the Restless, Jack Abbott is simultaneously trying to get to know his new granddaughter, Allie Nguyen, and, through her, fill in the blanks on the life lived in the last few decades of his son, Keemo Volien. But the more Allie talks about herself and her dad, the more we want to learn more…about her mother.
The Young and the Restless: Intrigue Ingenue
Allie (Kelsey Wang) said that she was much closer to her dad than to her mom and that her parents divorced because Allie’s mother was a driven career woman who — presumably — neglected both Keemo and Allie. Allie is dealing with Keemo’s death alone because her mom is too busy working and focusing on “her own life.”
That’s Allie’s version of events. We can easily see a scenario where her mom feels Keemo and Allie were so wrapped up in each other, that there was no room for her. That they pushed her out of their lives and the reason she hasn’t come back to help Allie deal with Keemo’s death is that her daughter’s actions made it clear she wasn’t wanted. That kind of push and pull can make for an intriguing new character.
Plenty of Room
If Allie’s mom were to come to Genoa City, we might hear her side of the story. We could watch her try to defend herself to her daughter…and to Jack (Peter Bergman). We might even see her and Jack grow close. (Don’t make that face. Jack and his dad, John, shared a woman, Jill Foster. It would not be out of character for Jack to be on the other side of such a Frauedian triangle.)
All The Young and the Restless Possibilities
And if not Allie’s mom and Jack, then how about her and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson)? He and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) aren’t setting any worlds on fire. Or how about Allie’s mom and Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow)? He’s free at the moment? The point is, the woman has potential — let’s meet her!
