Remember back in the day on The Young and the Restless when summertime meant that it was time for young love to blossom? We had the trials and tribulations of teen Victoria Newman…and the older man who slept with her mother…and might also be her brother.

Young and the Restless: Where Are The Young Ones?

We had Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) hooking up with Sharon Collins (Sharon Case), a relationship that lasted long enough to produce children who are now older than Sharon and Nick were when they met. We had the Glow By Jabot house, and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) with her Internet predator, Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart). The point is, we used to have summer love stories. And now we have….hmm.

Old Married Y&R Couple

The youngest official couple currently on the show is Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lenier). And they’re married. And the pretend parents of a pre-schooler. And constantly talking about work. This does not scream young love! These two might as well move to the suburbs and call it a day!

Young and the Restless: Play Dates

Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) and Moses Winters (Jacob Aaron Gaines) are dating. We think. They exchanged gifts on Valentine’s Day. They went to Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) wedding together. They studied and talked about college plans. And we did our best to stay awake. Can Young and the Restless make something dramatic happen with these two? Can anything happen with these two?

Y&R: Slow Paced

And speaking of going nowhere…Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) and Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) talked about Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) podcast. Then they went jogging together. We understand why Faith and Moses are taking it slow. They’re still kids, minors.

Allie and Noah are adults. If Y&R wants us to invest in them as a couple, we need something. They don’t have to hit the office desks like Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). But some sparks would be nice. A coming attraction? A tease?
