The Young and the Restless viewers know that Lauren Fenmore Baldwin is a force in Genoa City, and she’s become an important member of the fashion community over the years. For her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R are presented to Lauren’s portrayer, Tracey Bregman.
Tracey Bregman — Y&R Performer of the Week
This week, Lauren and her family and friends gathered before she accepted a lifetime achievement award for contributions to fashion. It was also Bregman’s 40th anniversary on Y&R. Shows like this can often feel staged, but this one had some superb new moments, along with so many excellent flashbacks.
Perhaps the actress’s greatest moment this week was as she relayed the past about Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown). We saw some absolutely iconic moments for Lauren where she haughtily told the naughty nurse to stay away from her husband or found out that her son Scotty was alive because Sheila had switched the babies.
However, Bregman truly made us believe it when she vowed Sheila’s demise should she ever be alive again and come after her family. It was pretty unbelievable, too, considering Sheila is indeed alive, and Lauren recently went to Los Angeles, but the actress absolutely sold Lauren’s barely-contained fury at a woman she clearly thought was dead. We can’t help but hope that Tracey Bregman and her strong delivery foreshadowed a near-future return of Sheila Carter to Genoa City.
Additionally, we truly felt Lauren’s anguish when she described losing her father and growing up to follow in his footsteps with Fenmore’s. The actress showed off her on-screen alter ego’s sense of pride through her facial expressions and tone of voice, and we appreciated hearing how much it meant to Lauren after all these years to hear that she’d done well by her father.
Bravo, Tracey Bregman, on an excellent performance showcasing your body of work on Y&R. We look forward to many more, and we cannot wait to see what comes next for Lauren. Congratulations on 40 years!
