The Young and the Restless viewers know that Nikki Newman will do whatever she can for her family. Currently, to her, that means taking down her nemesis, Diane Jenkins. For her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R are presented to Nikki’s portrayer, Melody Thomas Scott.
This week, Diane (Susan Walters) tried to confront Nikki at Society, but the Newman matriarch held her own, calmly continuing with her meal. We loved Thomas Scott’s prim and proper facial expressions during their encounter. Plus, the actress delivered the lines of biting dialogue with the absolutely perfect tone of voice to let Diane know just how little she mattered to Nikki.
Another high point Melody Thomas Scott hit this week was when she and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) ran into Diane talking to Talia Morgan (Natalie Morales) at Society. Her body language and facial expressions perfectly showed Nikki’s horror at thinking their cover might have been blown.
We also loved the moments when Nikki and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) discussed family at The Ranch. While Nikki mostly managed to stay silent when her husband talked about Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), Melody Thomas Scott ensured we all knew what Nikki thought about Victor’s plans through her disbelieving looks and her uncomfortable body language.
We absolutely enjoyed the wide range of Melody Thomas Scott and Nikki this week on Y&R. She hit the perfect notes in her scenes. Bravo on an excellent performance.
