Soap Hub Performer Of The Week For Y&R: Lily Brooks O’Briant

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Lucy Romalotti is Daniel Romalotti’s daughter, but she’s living with Heather Stevens in Portugal. The two visited Genoa City to see Daniel, and Lucy had a lot to say to her dad. Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Lucy’s portrayer, Lily Brooks O’Briant, for her performance.

Lily Brooks O’Briant: Y&R Performer of the Week

O’Briant is a newcomer to daytime, and Lucy is a 13-year-old who’s full of angst over her father’s poor behavior in recent years. The young actress jumped right into the role and made it her own. She brought some dimension to Lucy using her movements, facial expression, and body language to show that Lucy is still a little girl who desperately needs her dad, but also a teen who is starting to become independent.

In a heartfelt scene, Lucy bravely spoke up to tell Daniel how his actions had hurt her. O’Briant really nailed this scene keeping Lucy’s tone of voice hurt but not disrespectful when it came to her talking to her dad. She clearly conveyed Lucy’s internal struggles and hurt. When Lucy tentatively handed Daniel the bracelet, it showed that she was willing to give her dad another chance, and O’Briant played it beautifully.

The next time Lucy saw Daniel, we loved hearing her tone of voice when she excitedly saw that he’d worn the bracelet. We could see Lucy’s conflict as she kept her body language closed much of the time, but she had brief moments of opening it as Lucy connected with Daniel and offered some slivers of hope for a future relationship.

Although we’d love to see Lily Brooks O’Briant return as Lucy someday soon to become a major Genoa City villain befitting her bloodline (Sheila Carter’s daughter Daisy, played by Yvonne Zima is Lucy’s birth mama), we loved seeing her as a hurt but not bitter teenager willing to give Daniel another shot. Bravo on an excellent performance!
