The Young and the Restless viewers know that Chance Chancellor name will not allow anything to get in the way of doing his job the best he can — including his family. For his performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Chance’s portrayer, Conner Floyd.
Conner Floyd — Y&R Performer of the Week
This week, Chance faced lots of pressure regarding his investigation into Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) death. Even his wife, Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway), felt concerned over the conflict with her family.
Despite his on-screen alter ego feeling pulled in many directions, Floyd managed to help Chance keep calm, cool, and collected, and he hit the perfect tone with his voice as he delivered Chance’s lines. Even when Chance visited Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and played chess, Conner Floyd did an excellent job portraying that Chance respected Victor but also didn’t believe much of what he said about the night Ashland died. It’s a fine line to walk, and Floyd ensured that Chance kept his balance on the tightrope.
We also appreciated seeing how Chance continued to methodically and logically think through the clues. The actor used his body language to help show that the detective just wasn’t convinced that the clues really pointed to Ashland dying in a car crash. He also said a lot with his eyes throughout the week, making it clear that things weren’t adding up for Chance.
As Chance talked to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), Floyd did an excellent job revealing Chance’s frustration at them sticking to Victor’s story using his tone of voice and facial expressions while he talked to them. He also did a great job showing how Chance cared for Abby and wasn’t happy to see her upset. Bravo on an excellent performance, Conner Floyd.
