Soap Hub Performer of the Week for Y&R: Christian Le Blanc

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Michael Baldwin loves his wife Lauren Fenmore Baldwin, but he also enjoys his career success. Lately, he’s found new life in working (again) for Victor Newman despite the danger he’s encountered. For his performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Michael’s portrayer, Christian Le Blanc.

This week, Michael and Lauren (Tracey Bregman) reminisced about a vacation in the south of France they recently returned from, and she asked him some pointed questions. As Michael gave his wife back as good as he got, we appreciated Le Blanc’s use of both his body language and expressions to complement his delivery of the lines he gave as Michael. Overall, we got the effect that Michael deeply loves and respects his wife, but he also isn’t willing to give up an important part of himself, especially when he realizes Lauren isn’t really as ready to retire as she pretended.

However, perhaps his best scene this week came when Michael encountered Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) for the first time since her return from the dead. We absolutely adored Le Blanc having Michael talk to himself as he failed to believe his eyes for a few minutes. Perhaps even better was the earnest conversation the two had, and the actor truly helped us truly believe that Michael was happy to see her alive despite everything.

It was a delight to watch Christian Le Blanc bring Michael to life once again on Y&R this week. We can’t wait to see how Michael and Victor (Eric Braeden) conspire to remove Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) from Genoa City. Any storyline that brings us more Michael is tops in our book. Bravo on an excellent performance!
