This week’s slow-burning storyline involves Cane’s AI software on The Young and the Restless. Although it’s taken a while, Victor appears to be on the brink of deploying it against Jabot, and Cane desperately wants to put a stop to it.

Key Takeaways

  • Cane’s AI is the ultimate bargaining chip for taking down any company in Genoa City.
  • The threat is so profound that Jack and Victor formed an alliance.
  • Phyllis stole Cane’s AI software and used it to leverage a deal with Victor.

Cane’s AI Threat Wages On

Cane’s (Billy Flynn) AI software is an existential threat to all the major companies—Jabot, Chancellor, and Newman Enterprises. This bargaining chip could hold the power and control in someone’s hands. Whichever entity ends up with it will ultimately shape the corporate future.

The reason why Cane had his hands on this weapon in the first place is that he wanted to acquire various assets, including property near Jabot and Newman. His desire to obtain the Chancellor position brings him closer to owning all of Genoa City’s media and communication outlets, allowing him to control the narrative.

The most shocking development in this storyline was the alliance between Jack (Peter Bergman) and Victor (Eric Braeden) against Cane. Jack was concerned that this software could mess with Jabot, and he was right. But he should’ve known better than to team up with The Mustache.

Could The Weapon Change Hands?

Meanwhile, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) stole Cane’s AI software. She negotiated a deal with Victor that would benefit both of them. Still, Victor will likely end up with the upper hand in the end.

Victor pressured Cane, not just with corporate threats, but also with blackmail of his father, Colin Atkinson’s illicit funds. He plans to use Cane’s technology against Jabot, and it just might have already happened.

But we’ve all seen this happen before. Victor loves to win over his enemies and lure them in with promises. But then he breaks it when he no longer needs their dirty work.

Alliances On The Brink of Destruction

This storyline’s alliances have already been destroyed. Victor and Jack’s collaboration was temporary, and Cane tried to buy Victor off with $1 billion. Of course, Amanda’s (Mishael Morgan) text left a Friday cliffhanger, which could mean that Victor has already made a move against Jabot.

This slow-burning storyline is on the brink of Victor using Cane’s AI, which Phyllis hijacked. As a result, it will become a powerful weapon against Jabot, potentially flipping the beauty industry on its head. This provides Victor with a direct, clean path to acquisition. Is Victor and Jack’s Y&R feud played out or soapy goodness?
