Claire and Kyle’s romance took a turn on The Young and the Restless. It went from a whirlwind to a slow burn. Who’s responsible for putting a pause on things?

Young Love

Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Claire (Hayley Erin) got cozy when she worked as a nanny for his son, Harrison (Redding Munsell). The more time they spent together, the closer they got. There was a mutual attraction between them, much to Summer’s (Allison Lanier) chagrin. However, this was Claire’s first relationship, so she’s never experienced anything like this before. She got swept up in the feelings and the attention from an attractive, young man.

It was all happening so fast, especially after she underwent treatment to rid herself of her crazy aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk). She had been groomed for much of her life and raised to have a deep hatred for the Newmans. The last thing she needed was to jump into a relationship. Claire was getting adjusted to living a normal, adult life.

Claire recently confessed her love for Kyle, leading them to take the next step. The couple is now considering moving in together, despite what their families think. However, their romance could now slow down since it’s in limbo. Who’s responsible for causing this slow burn?

Burning Flame

It’s no secret that Victor (Eric Braeden) is against this relationship. The only reason he hates his granddaughter dating Kyle is his long-running feud with Kyle’s father, Jack (Peter Bergman). He sees Kyle as an Abbott rather than his own person. In Victor’s mind, this relationship threatens his business and family legacy.

Unsurprisingly, Victor only thinks about himself and his needs. He doesn’t care about his granddaughter’s happiness. He’s done everything he can to keep the star-crossed lovers apart, even manipulating Kyle. His latest quest involves Audra (Zuleyka Silver), who plans to seduce Kyle. (Here’s how Claire could win over Victor.)

Another person who’s gotten in the way is Summer (Allison Lanier). She was against the idea because she was worried about Harrison’s well-being. Yet, it was clear that Summer was jealous of Claire getting close to Kyle. She thought they had a chance to rekindle their relationship. Even though Summer left Genoa City, her jealousy could have lasting effects.

Slow Burn

She told Kyle not to tell Harrison about his plans to move in with Claire until she returns, halting their plans for a happy life together. There’s also the issue of Claire’s father, Cole (J. Eddie Peck). He returned home with a mystery illness. Claire might not want to move out, especially if Cole dies. She could want to stay and be there for her mom, Victoria (Amelia Heinle).

Either way, we can see things slowing down. What are your thoughts on Kyle and Claire’s relationship? Do you think things will progress? Or do you think things will slow down, leading them to go their separate ways? Let us know in the comments section.
