Two of The Young and the Restless’ most privileged heir-apparents just can’t understand why everyone in Genoa City can’t be like them. Kyle Abbott and Summer Newman Abbott worked so, so hard to get to where they are today.
Young and the Restless: Rich and Poor
First, they had to be born. Kyle (Michael Mealor), after his mother stole the sperm of a rich man thinking she was getting the sperm of another rich man, and Summer (Allison Lanier), when her mother had sex with two rich men one right after the other and so didn’t know which rich man had fathered her precious Supergirl until she was born in an elevator.
Y&R: Working Our Way Up
Luckily, the same rich man didn’t end up fathering both Kyle and Summer – though they did think he had for a while. This way, the now happily married couple weren’t in competition.
Kyle had to really work his way up to be appointed co-CEO of the company his grandfather founded, while Summer was first employed by her rich grandfather, then her rich almost father. And then, oh, my God, Kyle and Summer had to work for HOURS to create a presentation that would get Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to buy Summer the fashion house house she wanted.
Young and the Restless: Lazy Bones
Which is why Summer and Kyle just cannot understand why Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) didn’t follow in their footsteps and had a company handed to her on a silver platter. Instead, the wretch had to scheme and commit horrible, horrible acts like arranging for Summer to get her dream job in Italy in order to move up in the world. Some people just have no worth ethic!
And now, Sally has attached herself to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) – that little slut! Doesn’t she know that marriage is the ONLY proper way to come into money and power. Sleeping with the boss without a wedding license? How gauche! How common!
Even Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) could only roll her eyes in disgust. Sally is sleeping with Adam and now she’s an executive? Tacky. The least she could have done is try to frame him for murder, like an honest and upstanding person!
