Adam Newman killed Chloe Mitchell’s daughter on The Young and the Restless. He didn’t do it on purpose. It was an accident…but then he tried to cover it up. We are not suggesting that Chloe should ever forgive Adam because what he did was unforgivable. However, we also strongly suggest that, at this point, Chloe’s obsession is doing her more harm than it will ever do Adam. It’s even worse than when she tried to kill him. And we think we know why. On the Couch: Chloe Mitchell
Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) doesn’t have to be friends with Adam (Mark Grossman). She doesn’t have to be in the same room with Adam. Chloe doesn’t have to let Adam within three miles of her children, Bella and Miles. But, Chloe also shouldn’t be lecturing Sally (Courtney Hope) on her relationship with Adam. She most certainly should not be urging Nick (Joshua Morrow) to take Sally back – solely so he can keep her away from Adam. Yet, Chloe is doing all of the above. Why?
Thanks for the Memories
All this is because Chloe is afraid. Not of Adam, though, or of Adam being happy. Chloe is afraid of herself being happy. Chloe’s life is in a pretty good place right now. She loves her husband, Kevin (Greg Rikaart). They have a wonderful family. Chloe has a wonderful job. She’s in a good place. And, the happier she is, the more guilty she feels. She thinks she’s betraying her late, beloved Delia. And, because she is also starting to forget Delia.
Time Heals All Wounds
It’s inevitable. Memories fade. She’s having trouble summoning up every detail of her little face. How she sounded, how she mispronounced some words, how she smiled. Chloe is trying desperately to hold onto her memories. The best way to remind herself of what she’s lost is to keep reminding Adam of what he took from her. Every time Chloe does something to undermine Adam, she’s doing something to hold onto Delia. She may not know it. And the not knowing may ultimately destroy her.
