On The Couch: Why Is Y&R’s Sharon Rosales Hiding From Life?

For what feels like the last year on The Young and the Restless, it feels like Sharon Rosales has been doing nothing but pouring coffee, listening to other people’s problems, and hearing about her new granddaughter, second hand.

Now, does this sound like the woman who married and divorced Nick (Joshua Morrow) — several times? Who dallied with his brother…and his father? Who held onto her baby even after she learned he wasn’t hers, and who has committed a murder…or two? Why has Sharon been so far from the action lately? Why has Sharon been hiding from life? We popped her on the couch to find out.

Y&R: Terror Dies Tonight

Because Sharon (Sharon Case) is terrified. Nothing, and we mean nothing, in Sharon’s life has ever turned out right. She gave up her baby for adoption, found her several years later, and was able to win custody of Cassie (Camryn Grimes)…only to lose her to drunk driving before she’d even gotten the chance to graduate high school.

All of her marriages to Nick failed. So did her attempts at a relationship with Adam (Mark Grossman). And, most painful of all, Sharon finally found a nice guy to marry. Not a prima donna like Nick and Adam. Just a sweet, decent guy who wanted to make Sharon happy…and then Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) died. After everything she’d been through, how could Sharon not blame herself? How could she not start to believe that she’s the bad luck charm?

Sharon Rosales: Protect Yourself

So Sharon is doing the only thing she can to protect the people she loves. She’s keeping her distance from Faith (Reylynn Caster). She hasn’t seen Noah (Rory Gibson) in who knows how long. And now that Mariah (also Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) have a new baby, Sharon is even keeping her distance from her. Pouring coffee is about the only thing she can think of that won’t hurt anybody. And it looks like she’s doomed to a lifetime of it.
