When The Young and the Restless fans met the newly back-from-the-dead Chance Chancellor on The Young and the Restless, as now played by Conner Floyd, he was a haunted man. Poor Chance had barely survived a massacre that killed all of his men. He came back shattered, guilt-wracked, and hearing the voices of those he felt he’d let down.

He also came back to his son whose birth he missed…and who’d been fathered by another man. A man who now wanted access to the boy he’d previously promised not to seek out. You can see why Chance was overwhelmed. But that’s all done with now, right?

The Y&R Doctor Is In

Sure, Chance has been going to therapy…off-screen. And, sure, the therapist seemed great — not to mention hot, and worthy of being added to the regular cast — but we digress. But is that really all that Chance needed? Just a little talk therapy, and he’s all good? We’re not denigrating the wonders that can be done by a dedicated doctor, but didn’t Chance seem really troubled?

As in, perhaps we need to intervene with some medication here, troubled? Is he on meds? How is he responding? Is Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) on board? Will he need to be medicated indefinitely? Seems like something we, the concerned viewers, should be made aware of.

Young and the Restless: Job Therapy

Chance is also back on the force. The last time we saw him at work, he froze and almost got Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) killed — a death that still would have been more meaningful than the one he eventually got. But we digress again. Is it work that healed him? Shouldn’t we know that too?

Y&R: Bye, Bye Baby

Or could it be simpler? Could it be that acknowledging Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) as Dominic’s biological father and giving him visitation rights took the greatest pressure off Chance? He didn’t need medication and he didn’t need work. All he needed was to be rid of the “son” Abby kept insisting was his.
