On The Young and the Restless, Jack Abbott and Phyllis have broken up and made up so many times, is it any wonder that Phyllis assumes that should happen whenever she feels like it? Phyllis assumes she and Jack are endgame because they’ve known each other for so long, they’re inevitable (like Thanos). But, let’s get real. There have been other women in Jack’s life whom he’s known longer.
Young and the Restless First and Last For Jack Abbott
There was Luan, whom Jack (Peter Bergman) fell in love with in Vietnam, lost for two decades, then reunited with her and their son, Keemo (Allie’s father). Jack and Luan looked to be each other’s true loves and definitely thought they were endgame when they married over 20 years after they first met. But then she died. And that was that.
Y&R: First Mover Advantage
Jack’s first wife was Patty. Paul’s (Doug Davidson) younger sister. Patty was young and naive and virginal, and Jack married her in order to prove to his daddy that he was a grown-up. But Jack cheated on Patty, and she eventually shot him. And went crazy. And came back many years later, still crazy, to try and kill Jack again. So she may have been the first, but she definitely wasn’t endgame. And that was that.
Jack Abbott: Look Who’s Been Here All Along
Jack didn’t just cheat on Patty. He cheated on Patty on their wedding day. With a Jabot model. Named Diane Jenkins.
Yeah. Her. Diane. She wasn’t played by Susan Walters then, but Diane was the woman who Jack felt it was worth cheating on Patty with. And she was the woman he ended up having a child with. Neither one expected it. Diane actually stole Victor’s (Eric Braeden) sperm to impregnate herself with but got Jack’s instead. Oops. Maybe the universe was trying to tell them something?
And now Diane is back. And Jack is handing her keys to his house and swearing he doesn’t want to spend another night without her. She was there at the beginning. She was there in the middle — between Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Luan and the rest. And she’s here now. Maybe this is the woman Jack Abbott was destined for all along?
