Joshua Morrow: Soap Hub Performer Of The Week For Y&R

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Nick Newman will do anything he needs to for those he loves, and right now it seems he’s slowly falling in love with Sally Spectra. He’s stood beside her, calmly supporting her as she moves forward with her pregnancy. Among his greatest accomplishments in life are his children, and Nick is waiting to find out if he’ll be a daddy again. For his performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R are presented to Nick’s portrayer, Joshua Morrow.

Joshua Morrow: Y&R Performer of the Week

Nick has really stepped up to support Sally (Courtney Hope). It seems he’s become her Prince Charming just in time for Valentine’s Day. While most people wouldn’t have blamed him for being pretty angry that she slept with his brother, Adam (Mark Grossman), Morrow’s Nick has maintained a sense of maturity about the trio’s complicated relationship, a marked difference from his impulsive and volatile sibling.

We appreciate Morrow’s take on Nick’s feelings by how calm and collected his voice has seemed. Not only are the words Nick is saying exactly what they should be, but also Morrow is choosing the perfect body language and tone of voice, along with facial expressions, to convey the soothing sense of calm Nick wants to impart to an increasingly stressed Sally.

Morrow also shined during his conversations with Jill (Jess Walton). It has to be a different challenge to act with somebody who is shooting remotely, but both he and Walton handled it like the pros they are. We loved seeing Nick’s face light up and eyes twinkle as he extolled Sally’s virtues to Jill. His body language and authentic sense of enthusiasm further conveyed his message and helped Jill feel comfortable with giving Sally a chance.

Perhaps most interesting is how Morrow puts his entire being to work to show his sense of distrust when he’s around his brother Adam. They saw each other at Crimson Lights this week, and immediately, Morrow used more guarded facial expressions and body language to convey that Nick is not as comfortable with Adam as he is with others in Genoa City. We appreciated how he worked hard to ensure that Nick kept Sally’s secret from Adam. Of course, Adam is not easily swayed, so he’ll keep digging to find out what’s going on.

Bravo, Joshua Morrow, on an excellent performance this week on Y&R. We can’t wait to see how this storyline plays out and what’s next for Nick. We’re looking forward to many more great scenes.
