Is the Door Open For a Y&R Sharon and Nick Newman Reunion?

On The Young and Restless, Sharon told Chance that she wasn’t looking for a serious relationship at the moment, while Nick Newman’s…whatever that was with Sally is blessedly over. Both of them are single right now. This means the path is clear for a “Shick” reunion. But would that be a good idea? For anyone?

Sharon and Nick Newman: Once Again?

No, no, no, no. If Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) were to get back together now, they would be on the rebound. And, that’s never worked for them before. They need to shake off the Chance (Conner Floyd) and Sally (Courtney Hope) mishaps before they can even think about taking a second – third? ninth? – look at their exes.

Always Room For A Re-do

Sharon and Nick are always what’s best for each other. We’re not saying their being together is best for the kids. Think of everything Noah (Rory Gibson) and Faith (Reylynn Caster) have suffered thanks to them. We are not saying their being together is best for Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas), or even for Adam (Mark Grossman). But, it’s best for them. And, in the end, that’s all that matters.

Long Haul

A reunion would only work for Sharon and Nick if THIS time, it was for the long haul. They can’t keep making up and breaking up the way they have been for…has it been 30 years now? Not only is it bad for the kids — and we’re including the invisible Christian in this, too — but it’s bad for them.

Sharon wasn’t too upset to break up with Chance. Nick was only mildly upset to break up with Sally. But, whenever they break up, they are very, very upset. And nobody needs that. This includes those of us in the audience who still demand our happily ever after.
