On The Young and the Restless, Adam Newman seems to be his family’s favorite scapegoat. Sure, for a bit of time, Victor Newman seemed to favor him over Nick Newman, but that brief period is over, and now Adam is the one who’s expected to prove himself over and over.
The Young and the Restless Case Of Adam Newman
There’s no doubt at all that Adam (Mark Grossman) has a long list of misdeeds to his name. Some of them, mere mortals could never be redeemed after. Of course, he lives in Genoa City, and his family includes Victor (Eric Braeden), Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle), Nick (Joshua Morrow), Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway), all of whom have done their share of dirty deeds.
Yes, Adam once faked his own illness just like Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) seems to have done. And yes, Adam once gaslighted his step-mom into thinking she was pregnant after she had a miscarriage, and then he stole Sharon Rosales’s (Sharon Case) baby and passed her off as Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) and Victor’s. These things are quite terrible, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
However, Adam has turned over a new leaf since his latest happy return from the dead on The Young and the Restless. He donated a kidney to Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) even when it meant he’d have to reveal himself. He teamed up with Victor to “save” Victoria’s wedding even though that turned out to be ill-fated. In short, he’s done a lot to prove that he’s not the same old Adam anymore.
It’s pretty unfair for the Newmans to not only make Adam be their patsy but also decide he’s untrustworthy before he even gets a chance. Adam finally has a partner in Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) who seems to accept him for who he is and support his ambitions without dragging him entirely over to the dark side. With her, he has just enough of that Adam edge we know and love without being irredeemable. After all, he’ll never be his brother, and we wouldn’t want him to be.
We suspect Adam will always look out for himself, but he’s more than proven himself to his family recently. Plus, his streaming service idea for Newman Locke is on point. What do you think about the way Adam’s family is treating him? Let us know in the comments below.
