Hypocrisy Alert: Kyle Gets on His Young and the Restless High Horse

Kyle Abbott finally came face to face with his long-lost mother on The Young and the Restless. And, boy, did he let Diane Jenkins have it. He berated her for leaving him when he was a little boy, making him think she was dead, causing him to suffer.

Kyle (Michael Mealor) was absolutely justified in everything he said. Until he got to the part about how Kyle would never, ever cause his son that kind of pain. Uhm…fact-check!

Y&R: It’s All About Me

When Kyle found out that Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) was his biological child, he instantly wanted to cut Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) out of the boy’s life. That would be the Ashland that Harrison called “Father,” and who had been his parent from the moment he was born. Kyle eventually agreed to share the tot. Ashland would stay “Father,” and Kyle would be “Daddy.” One big happy family!

Young and the Restless: Mother Of All Battles

But then, Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) committed the ultimate sin — she stood in the way of Summer Newman Abbott’s (Allison Lanier) ultimate happiness. Mama Bear Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) refused to stand for that! So Phyllis exposed Tara’s crimes and made sure the woman was arrested. And separated from Harrison. Kyle seemed to have no qualms about taking his son’s mother away from him then. Hypocrite much?

Y&R: Moving Out

To add insult to injury, Kyle then decided to follow Summer to Italy — with Harrison in tow. So, to summarize: He took Harrison away from his mother (not even a jail-house visit), and he took Harrison away from his father (Ashland has been asking to visit with the boy since Kyle returned to Genoa City, but Kyle is ignoring his texts) — all so Kyle wouldn’t need to be separated from Summer. You’d think he’d be a lot more understanding about where Diane (Susan Walters) is coming from, no?
